    Saginaw or Ross steering?

My header hits my clutch linkage, so the clutch binds if the header is tight. I need to put a dimple in the header now that I think about it.

On my CJ6 -----aftermarket headers will not fit in my Jeep because my engine it too far towards the driver's side (2 inch off center). I had a set of good Hooker headers that I tryed to fit. These are 500 dollar headers and I did not want to hack them-- so I sold them to a Grand National guy.

I did the 2" + offset to avoid driveline hitting the bell housing. I have 2 inch spring lift and 2 inch body lift. To run 33s - 35" dia tires. I did this way to avoid spring over with narrow track axles--- 4 inch spring lift is a bit much for a narrow track. Since the Jeep frame sits lower the driveline angles are not too steep. My tub was so extensively welded for repairs that it distroted and warped up in the mid section about and inch or more and would not sit flat with out a lift anyway.

Aftermarket headers are designed for factory Jeeps that came with V6s--- otherwise you have to heat some tubes red hot and bend one way or the other for a fit. If you did a V6 conversion to a Jeep and moved the engine to the driver's side, most aftermarket headers will not just fit without bending.

I want to get an old set of v6 headers and use the flanges an 2-4 inches of the header pipes to make 3800 v6 style manifolds(like in 2000ish Buick LaSabers) then dump the exhaust outboard the frame. Or at least totally out of the way of steering-- or clutch if inboard--

I will be wiring my Buick Odd-Fire within a month and starting the engine--with a welded Driver's side manifold. The manifold has been modified to dump the exhaust over the top of the steering and exit via the fender well ( Just like outboard headers). PIC later.

I would recommend heating all the tubed the Headers and bending the whole tube set for a fit-- unless it is only the collector you have to dent.
