I'm looking for an aftermarket front bumper with winch mount for my 75 but I can't come up with anything. I don't really want to fab one because I dont have the resources. Anybody running aftermarket winch bumpers that arn't fabbed?

I dont have a front bumper. I just run a warn winch plate bolted to the frame.

Warn makes a bumper/winch mount that bolts to the frame rails.

Did you have to buy the plate specially for your year jeep?

The plate I have fits any CJ from 72 to 86. You need to tell the place you get it what type of winch you have. There are 2. One is for the planatary winches the other is for the 8276.

I thought the bumper reinforces the front of the frame and you will get cracks with out it.

that bumper piece is pretty bent up so im just going to take it off but the ramsey i have mounts directly to that plate but the plate is just a little to narrow to bolt to the frame so I'm just going to blow some holes in that metal plate underneath it and mount the winch and winch plate into the metal plate then mount the metal plate to the frame.

Normally yes it does. But the Warn winch plate is a much stronger piece and once in place actually reinforces the frame a lot better then any bumper.

I don't think the bumper makes much difference in strength on a '72 or later. The were bolted on from the factory, and only with 4 3/8" diam. bolts. On these the bumper serves as a ... bumper. I bent a few of them; I considered them mostly a sacrifical component.

That bumper could be straightened pretty easily with a 6-lb sledge and some pent-up frustration. Might be a fun way to unwind after a long day at the saltmines?
