Okaleedokalee! The Brown Santa came and brought Dave his new Speedway motors steering u-joints and 3/4" shaft. Well the joints fit the Postal Jeep column no problemo......as it is a 3/4" x 36 spline. I was under the impression that the postal jeep manual saginaw box was also 3/4" x 36 spline. NEGATIVE! The box is splined and is machined with a flats on one side (See Pic). I counted the slines.....26 outside of the flats...so I assumed it sould slip on in the joint. Not!

I'm hoping that I can get a spud shaft that will adapt the box to the joint. I'll be PM'ing Mcruff but in case he doesn't have a shaft to help any opinions, suggestions etc. would be appreciated.

I feel yer pain Dave. I got my saggy swap all installed and THEN discovered I couldn't get my knee up high enough under the steering wheel to actuate the brake pedal.

Eventually I relocated the postal-column's mounting bracket lower on the tube, which raised the wheel back up where it needed to be. Of course, that made my brand-new custom-made steering shaft about 1-1/4" too short. McRuff came to the recue and sent me a sleeve so I coudl extend my steering shaft to make it all work. (Thanks again Mike!)

Now I have saginaw steering AND brakes! :D

I splined a Borgeson chromoly U-joint onto my DJ5C box with no problem. Don't recall off hand the diameter and spline count though.

I do remeber the u-joint being rather difficult to get on and "persuading" it with a rubber mallet. Hope I didn't screw it up. :(
