    Hi folks,

Maybe this is a dumb question but I'm a newbie to this V6 thing.
Is an Even-Fire 4 bbl. intake usable on an Odd-Fire 225?
If so, what are the tricks? Machining? Different gaskets?

Which intake am I thinking of?
Any dual plane. Offy, Edelbrock, etc..
No single planes-they do not fit my RPM range at all.

My 225 is a '68, by the way.

Thanks a bunch for any and all help.

Yessir, I did read all of that but only the first paragraph hints at such a swap: "Even-fire 231 intakes have been said to work if you use a '78 or older intake gasket".
"Have been said to work" isn't positive proof enough for me to assume and start throwing money and time at the swap.

That's why I'm here....in the hopes of finding some first-hand experiences from someone on the board.

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

I appreciate every tidbit of info I can get.

I want to do this as "right the first time" as I can.

    Thanks!

This might be worth dropping Kenne-Bell a call. I can't think of much of anyone who would have more knowledge about the Buick V6 than them...

    (909) 941-0985 (They're in California, so allow for the time zone difference.)

Kenne Bell doesn't sell the Number One intake any longer, I have one. I also have their last catalogue and it is one of the few (the Number One) that will work on either the OF or EF V6's. The real differance is in the ports, these changed in '79. If it were me, I would spend the money on and Offenhauser 6035DP. That is what I am going to put on my next build.

The origional equipment two barrel Buick manifold is a single plane. The Holley 300-22 four barrel manifold is a single plane but it divides the intake in half just below the carb or fuel injection so its kind of a cross between a single plane and a dual plane. It fits the 225 heads.

    FANTASTIC!
Thanks for all that info, folks.
I'm taking all those part numbers and looking into them.
The Offenhauser was my number one choice, due to the RPM's my 225 will see 99% of the time.
Haven't heard of the Holley before. Hmmm.....Out of production?

    Thanks again!

Kenne Bell is no longer a parts source for Buick, I called them about 6 months ago for valve covers and the guy told me they no longer sold Buick parts.
    (edit):
I just got off the phone with Kenne Bell, they said some of the stuff they still make but they no longer do testing for new products for the Buick V6, they are mainly into Turbos and blower units now. I know they still make the valve covers as the guy was gonna call back with a price in a few minutes.

read this ad about the offenhauser dual port. they make it for the 225-231 OF only. its about $230 in PAW. i can get the #'s for you and you can call them if you like. but read this and check out the link... http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=egnsearch.asp&N=400429+307672&autoview=sku

Offenhauser Dual Port Intake Manifolds...More power across the rpm range. 15-30%.

Offenhauser Dual Port intake manifolds feature completely separate runner systems for the primaries and secondaries. At low-load, the primaries feed the fuel-air charge through the smaller bottom passages at near sonic speed, improving power and efficiency. When the secondaries open, their charge goes through the bigger, cooler upper passages. Then, in turn, it is rammed into the cylinders when it encounters the high-velocity mix from the primaries. The result is better fuel economy and a 15-30 percent power increase across the whole rpm range.
i dont know what RPM range you are looking for, but these were made for low rpm power. this is what i bought. its not yet together, but will be in a few weeks MAX and i will compair before and after power. but 15-30% increase? thats nice in my book.
    hope this helps.

Yes, $140 for polished ones. Think I'm gonna get them in a couple of weeks.

I have a set of Black Krinkle (that I am running now), and a satin set (on the shelf). I realy like how solid they are and give me enough room for my roller rockers.

Thanks for all the info, folks!
    MUCH appreciated.

Believe me.....I've been reading up on that Offenhauser.
But too many years of small block Chevy and Ford have jaded me......$240+ for a wee intake like that? WOW.
That's sticker shock when you're used to $100-130 Chevy and Ford dual planes. :(

Offy is the only way to go for me.
All my 225 will have is headers, header mufflers, Electronic ignition/dist. re-curve, the intake and a small 4 bbl..
    Nice improvement, I'm sure.
Same thing we did to my brother's 304 CJ5 which resulted in a colossal improvement.

Kenne Bell's website is completely devoted to his line of superchargers.
    Such is the times.
That's where the demand and money is.
    Can't say I blame him.

    Thanks again!
