I want to put a M38-A1 dash in my CJ-5 because it has 2 glove boxes and a removable instrument panel with seperate insturments instead of the cluster. Has anyone ever done that? The only problem I see is getting a wiring harness for a CJ-5 with the V-6 but with hookups for seperate gauges. Does anyone know how to do that?

Where is the second glove box? I never saw one with two.

Standard M38A1 is on the left side, the battery box takes all the space on the right.

in my opinion you would be better off to toss the factory harness rather than cut/patch it and start over with a Painlesss kit or one of the other companies that makes a universal kit.
I think it would save some time and frustration.....and you might be able to sell your harness for $$ if it isn't all hacked up.

plus......you gain a modern fuse box instead of none or inline fuses
    my 0.2 worth..
I have that center panel dash on my 2A and I did the Painless kit
