Hi-Lift jack, steel vs. cast

where on your jeep do you keep a 60"?

 

Inside, on the floor. The base is by the tailgate, the top is by the 4x4 stick next to the pass seat. Ain't pretty, but it works there.

 

as in tractor trailer. used to jack to lift one axle at a time to place wood underneath the wheels.

 

You know I didn't pick up on that until I had already tried to be cute- I guess I got out in the weeds for the sake of a play on words.

I remember pictures from a few years ago about a guy who got smacked in the mouth with the handle of his jack when it failed to engage fully and the handle came back up at him really fast. Broke a bunch of teeth and seriously messed up his jaw. These things work great but exercise caution, they can hurt you bad.

 

Heck I remember when these were standard jacks with a new car, with the exception that they had the hook attachment for your bumper. My 66 Mustang had one, so did my 69 fury and my 74 Duster. This was a common type of jack long before they used scissor jacks for cars. I know wheer there are 3 of them that would make a Hi-lift look like a chinese piece of junk. They are old farm jacks and that is what they say on them.
