Gentlemen, I need a measurement. I'd measure my own, but if I could do that I wouldn't need to fix it.R)

I need to know how far up the rear 1/4 panel wheel arch goes. Or basicly whats the dimension at the shortest distance of the wheel arch to top of body on the rear fender. I'm trying to come up with a plan to fix this issue.

If I can find any 18ga sheet anywhere I'm going to work on some easier sections this weekend and just try my hand at bodywork.

    Thanks,

Wow, you got a chunk of work ahead. Get another measurement as well, but from the small flat ledge (just below the bed rail), to the highest part of the wheelarch, I got 3.25 inches. Overall about a 31.5 wide opening (measured from lower rocker side to appox pt. on rear side) to give about a 15.5 to 15.75 radius.

Awesome! Thats the info I needed.

I pretty much plan on just keeping the stock arch up to the middle of the wheelhouse and then go straight back like it is currently. I'll be keeping the 'comp cut' look, but making it look more complete and less hacked.

I'm thinking now that I'll cut the current fender even higher up almost to the bed rail to get a staight line and get rid of some rust cancer. Then weld in oversized panels to trim to fit. I can use a sharpie and those dimensions as well as the ole' calibrated eyeball to line up the curve and cut it out. The hard part will be getting a nice smooth radius and then figuring out how to put a lip on it like the factory.

    Kevo-

Spend a few bucks to get yerself a cheapie sheetmetal brake from Harborfreight. I used this to bend a bunch of patch panels on Ol' Yeller and it worked out great. You'll need about 3-4 c-clamps as well to hold it all down onto a bench when you commence to bending metal.
