Does anyone know or can someone tell me where to look for the following torque specs for a 53 M38 A1:

    Engine Head bolts
    Clutch plates
    Transmission

    Thanks

    Hi,

First off, nearly everything will be the same as F-134 civilian CJ5. Use Chilton's manual or whoever.

Army tech manual 9-8014 gives 60-65ft.lbs for the head bolts. They say the transmission should be 'tightened evenly," and the clutch they don't want to get into. Try the Military Vehicle collectors clubs for manuals.

Granville King's Jeep Bible will tell you 50-60# for transmission to clutch housing, and 20-26# for clutch cover bolts.

Me, I say "stop just before you break it."

    Good Luck.
