I bought a 63 Willy CJ5 from a mechanic which from the way the jeep looks didn't know his *** from a hole in the ground. He replaced the stock V6 with a Chevy V8 283 but he also replaced the transmission to a SM420 from GM. Now what I want is to know of a good reliable aftermarket electronic or computerized speedometer. The wiring was upgraded so if anybody can point me in the right direction or has a number for Fresno CA any help would be appreciated.

Why not put a stock Jeep one in unless you want a custom dash, or was the D18 removed as well?

Check the Autometer line of guages/speedos. I have one in my CJ. You have to buy the sender seperately. The sender mounts to the same place the origional speedo cable does on the transfer case. You then run wires up inside to the Speedo on the dash. It is then programmed using a measured distance to ensure its accurate. I used my GPS to accurately measure it while driving. The only problem is its $$$.

If there is already an electonic sender on the T-case for the computer then you may be able to piggy back the signal to the Speedo. That will save you some $$.
