Yes, all the post-71 AMC I6 and V8 bell patterns are the same. Motor mounts are differnt though.

What about a later FI 4.0? No idea if the bellhousing pattern is the same, but you'd get junkyard FI...;)

    nifty idear there :coffee:

just had a brain fart and thought hmmmmm, i already have a rebuildable
I6 that could be adapted to FI, and it has a bellhousing on her that would accept (i think) NP435

    now.....if i 'member correctly, the 4.2 crank added to a 4.0 makes a stroker......like i said, IF i remember correctly

    Yes 4.2 crank + 4.0 block = 4.5 or 4.6 stroker, depending on the overbore. Here's a good place to start: http://www.jeep4.0performance.4mg.com/stroker.html
There's a Yahoo strokers group that has a lot of good info too.

Folks have adapted the 4.0L MPI to the 4.2L without buying the spendy Mopar MPI kit. There's a discussion group about putting the 4.0L into CJs and Wranglers on the JU (?) board... it's been brought up here before. Maybe somebody wil fill in the address, or a search should turn it up.

Rockcrawler.com has a 4.7 stroker right up as well. You need the crank and rods from the 258 to make it work.
