T-90 tanny

    ust have a question as of the weight of this tranny... i am thinking about pulling mine and just wondering how hard it would be to just pick it up... could i do it myself or would i need a friend to help out...

    They don't weigh much.....But with the transfer case bolted to it, it gets a little tough for one guy to handle...

    I pulled the floor patch looped a rope around and used a cherry picker from the top choked the tranny and xfer case, propped the engine up unbolted it and set the tranny and xfer case on a creeper and rolled it out.

    what about lifting it up into the back of a pickup...Ford Ranger to be exact... you guys think that me and a buddy could get it into there fairly easily??

    Two guys can very easily lift the trans and transfer case....

    Me and another guy lifted an F-head motor into the back of my Silverado. A T90 should be a piece of cake, I'd think. Can't be any worse than the Muncie 4-speed in my old Chevelle, and it was easy to lift.

    No problem lifting the tranny. I doubt it's 40 lbs. The tranfercase is heavy and you could probably get the two in the back of the truck by yourself but you'll get grease on your clothing.

    D18 weight is 80 lbs IIRC. The T90 should be considerably less, 40 sounds close.

    I muscled my T90/D18 onto my workbench by myself while they were still connected. Awkward, but doable. Use your legs, not your back.
