Do a search on shackle reversal, I just did and it brings up a ton of information and pictures, there are a few different companies that make kits for reversal,,,, not sure if they make them for the ECJ but you can adapt them.... do a google search on jeep shackle reversal...

I have done this using the Warrior product. I bought it on Tellico4x4.com. It is a great kit but I had to modify it to clear my Saginaw steering box. It is the best modification I have done yet. I will post some pics and a full report soon.

Re: Reverse Shackle Pictures and Notes

My '56 CJ5 is built that way from the factory, and I'm told that they only did it for a few years. I have to wonder, if it's so much better this way than having the shackles in front, then why were most Jeeps built with the shackles in front?

When I played leapfrog over my towbar and had to weld on new horns, I reversed the shackles, putting the shackles in front, figuring the same way as you, Ron. If it's so good, why did they do it this way for only a couple years. Haven't noticed any problems. Of course Shaggy's not been driven since 1984.
