I'm trying to get my jeep to comfortable ride condition while I am restoring the trany. I'd like to replace the shocks right now, but am not too concerned about having orriginals. Is there a model of shock that I can get at Pep Boys or somewhere like that that will fit on my jeep? there have been no lift modifications or anything else done to her, just as an FYI.

Just know that shock absorbers won't smooth out the stiff stock leaf springs....

Thanks, I will check them out. I know the shocks won't solve all my problems, but right now, my leaf springs are bouncing off the bottom of my frame, so I have to do something.

if thay are bouncing off the frame you either need shocks bad or have a broken spring/springs
if you need springs im might be able to help you out with a hole set

X2. Sounds like your springs are shot. Shocks won't do much good if the springs aren't in decent condition.

After further review, I suspect that you all are correct that my issue stems from shot springs, so I guess that is what I really need to look for next.

Figure in the neighborhood of $80 bux per spring, plus shipping and hardware, unless you have alocal spring shop that can whip you up a set for less. Shocks should run you $15-$20 bux per unit at your FLAPS.

Might be a good time to look at a lift kit w/shocks if you intend to do that. If you search you often can find a 1' to 2 1/2" kit w/shocks under $500. You'll spend that much putting stock springs back under it, you could buy used onse ones but then you take a chance of them being the same as yours.
