    Hello

My jeep is presently parked in my driveway until beginning of Spring (end of March, beginning of April.) I plan to bring it to my dad's house, where he have a garage. I want to paint (or repaint) everything on it, to get a cleaner look, and to facilitate future cleaning of the jeep.

My question to you guys is this, do you know a easy way to remove dirt/surface rust/etc. from the frame and differential ??

I was thinking water pressure, but I'm afraid that I'll put water where I dont necessary need it. Also maybe a wire wheel, but some spots are hard to reach without removing the tub.

On some previous job, I cleaned with WD-40 and a hand brush, let dry and paint afterward.

    What do you think ??

Bob, takes more elbow grease than anything else. A good steam cleaning will do wonders to remove decades of grease/dirt/mud/etc. Access to a lift is a big plus for access to all the nooks/crannies.

After a thorough cleaning tackle each assembly one at a time and make sure to properly prepare surface before painting.

I would definately not use WD40 before painting. It is a petroleum based lubricant and is definately not for preparing metal for painting.

Simple Green seems to be a well respected cleaner good for suspensions and undercarriages.

Try the cheapo oven cleaner like Easy Off thet they sell at the 99 cent stores. It has lye in it so you gotta be careful, it'll remove old paint and may not be to good for rubber. Just put it on the bad spots after you scrape the easy stuff off.
