I was putting the frame back onto the springs and noticed that the right front spring seems to be twisted.

I can get the bolt into the rear spring hanger, but the front is about 1" to the right of the front spring hanger and the shackle is clearly not straight up and down. This is a stock spring setup.

Is this a problem? Or will it fix itself with some weight and road time?

I have a spring off of my 68 that you can have if you pick up the shipping. I went to a Rancho lift. I don't know if it's the same though.Maybe Sparky knows. I'm still pretty green on Jeep stuff.

I have a new set of Skyjacker Softride springs sitting in my garage and Iwas looking at them one night. I noticed that one front spring has the center bolt positioned off to one side of center. I imagine that is what creates situations like you describe. Even though it is just slightly off in the middle of the spring, it would create an angle and at the end of 18 inches or so (half the length of the spring) the error is multiplied since angles are constant.

This sounds like it could be my problem. I don't *think* I need new springs. Based on what you're saying, I will probably have to get the axle reset on the springs to get it aligned with the frame. I've never done something like that, can it be done accurately at home, or should I get it to an alignment shop?

I wonder if it's safe enough to try and bolt down and put the weight of the motor on it? Too many questions....any answers?

I was thinking of taking a dremel tool to the main leaf of that spring pack and elongating the center bolt hole slightly sideways so as to get the center bolt to sit more toward center. "The rest of the leaves seem to be OK. I can see that the rest of the leaves are sitting toward the side of the main leaf a little.
