I was wondering if anybody has had some wheels made custom, or know of a source, that spaces the wheel/tire assembly out further away from the axles so that wider tires do not rub. I have the skinny old military style tires now and want to eventually go to a more conventional tire.

    Thanks,
    Randy

Just IMHO...tire rubbing doesn't really hurt anything. Turn the bumpstops out up front, let 'em rub in the rear...just scuffs up the paint on the inner fenderwell. Space them out too far and you'll have to worry about eating the outer sheet metal.

Having said that...you might be able to find wheel spacers cheaper than custom wheels. While turning out the bumpstops was OK with my 5, on the 6 I end up with the turning radius of a bus, so have purchased some 1" wheel spacers to try.

What Mike said.... I run 1 1/2" wheel spacers. I no longer have issues with the front rubbing, but on the rear, I rub the rear lip of the fender opening...
