Hey guys just wanted to fill you in on my latest exhaust experience.

After getting confirmation from Sanderson: "Oh ya, we have early CJ5 owners using our BS-1 header on their buicks all the time". I ordered a set for my jeep. Mind you, I informed them of two important things:
    1) It is an early CJ5 - has a narrow frame
    2) It has Advance Adapter engine mounts (knowing from previous posts that the mounts have been somewhat of a problem)

Well I got the headers today, very nice looking, very good quality but that don't mean jack IF THEY DON"T FIT! The driver's side runs into the frame rail, and the passenger side cuts right through the engine mount.

Needless to say it would take some serious cutting and tig welding, so I'm sending them back.

Has anyone found a set of block hugging headers that fits our jeeps?

Doesn't Advance Adapters carry block hugger type headers? Or maybe it was Novak.

It used to be Novak but they discontinued them, I think something went wrong with the company they used to manufacture them. Last I talked to someone up there, they were working on making them in-house. If you call up there and express interest, it should help them along the way to getting done.

Downey offroad has a set that they sell for toyotas when they convert to a buick 231 My friend has them on his jeep but he has an automatic they look like they may work but might be tight against the clutch fork.
I dont know if anyone else has these headers and could give better response.

    Thanks guys
Downey might be a good choice, since I too am running an automatic. I'll give them a call.
    Later on.
