I am wondering if any of you flattie owners, or even the early 5 owners, have reworked the layout of their dash. I am considering it because someone cut a radio hole in my dash, plus I've had things moved around due to a full roll cage.

I know Boyink is currently working on an article regarding his dash rework and I would be interested in comments or pictures from others who have done so?

In additon to moving things around, did you add "extras" to the dash that was not circa 1948?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    I like bling
    my dash looked terrible
po had cut 2 huge holes for speakers by drilling a million holes, then finishing with a skill saw:evil:
the dash pictured is one piece of 1/8" ? aluminum and covers the stock dash; note the hump in dash for parking brake lever is no longer there; I eliminated that; note the steering column tube going thru aluminum dash; the stock clamp is still in place under the old dash; pretty tricky drilling that hole at the angle required (at least for me).
I then used a M38 instrument cluster for gauge install; the panel can be unbolted and pulled out for wiring acess (the huge ugly hole is behind that panel)
VDO cockpit series gauges; electronic speedo w/trip meter
chicken bar, switches for ign, lights and wipers, indicator lights for turn signals and high beams
2 toggle switches for fuel changeover valve and fuel tank sending units
    that's about it
when clean and polished up, it looks nice ! (not very often sadly)

The M38 and M38A1 had the gauges on a removeable plate.

    forgot to mention
note the windshield clamps in the up position
never have finished installing the dash halves....
gonna have to do that someday...
frame is secured up at top to cage with a strap
also have 2 brackets from cage that bolt thru the dash on top of the aluminum on each end
