I am talkingabout how the tub mounts with the single donut between body and frame. The later ones have a mount between the body and between the bottom of the mount and the bolt head. Is there a reason why it was changed? is it abetter setup? I am wondering because even with the poly monuts on my jeep, the body bit rough riding, i was thinking about getting another set of mounts and putting one under the mount between the frame and bolt head.

Poly mounts will always be rough. Rubber will be softer... but doesn't last as long. Same thinking goes for motor mounts, tranny mounts, etc.

As for you original qusetion, I think the double cushion helped eliminate some squeaks. :D

Dan, as it was explained to me, this allows for greater flexabillity in that the bolt head doesn't limit travel of the body away from the mount. I did it the 2 donut method, and all is well with Old Bill.
