    1. My V6 fuel pump doesn't have a return line, so I've since plugged this 1/4" fuel return line. Anyone else do that? Other than potential vapor lock, what other headaches might I expect with this line plugged?

    2. Those vent lines to the left...where have you guys routed them if at all? On my '71 (non-smog), I've got about 3" of rubber hose on 'em and that's it. Prob is that it's subject to mud from the left-rear wheel + those dang bees that fill holes w/ mud. I have a non-venting cap so I can't plug 'em. Thoughts?

    3. That large fuel inlet hose requires a "z"-type vent hose. Where to get one? The FLAPS had something close (wrong I.D. on one end).

    4. Where can I find another one of these Pal nuts? Is this a stock item? This is what secured the fill hose-to-vent hose junction. Several stops at FLAPS, hardware, & fastner shops were unsuccessful. A fine thread 7/8" nut fits, but is way too huge.

    5. Also gotta find a gasket. :D Where to get?

For the two vents on the end MOP and I just stuck about 4" of hose on it and "U'd" it one to the other.

Thought about that....but then how would the tank vent?

Gas cap? Mine was set up like that when I took the old metal one out and put in the new poly tank.

They even make vented gas caps for the rear? That'd be great if they did. I've never found one for my '71 which is the same size.

I did the same with those 2 small outlets -- figuring they weren't as much for a vent as for a charcoal cannister connection. Maybe your fuel inlet is different, mine has a 1" line and a 5/8"-ish line running up to the fill, figured one was the vent line.

I had one gas cap that didn't vent and the Jeep would starve for fuel, switched another cap on and no issues.

Ah, thanks Mike, that's right, I saw those and figured that they were for the same thing, charcoal canister when we replaced the tank.

    only 1 nut is used
    but you need 2 washers
the gasket you could make out of inner tube or ??
keep looking for a vent hose that will come close

Thanks for the diagram Jim, I would love to obtain one of those books/cd/dvds with all thos pics!
Not sure what you mean by the above statement. :? Not sure which question you were intending on answering, but I'm assuming it was #4?? I'm lookin' for the nut # 4.141-18; didn't ask "how many", but rather "where to get", and is the Pal nut a stock item?

Also noticed in the pic the sender unit w/ only one metal line from it. Mine has 2. Does it matter if'n I plug that spare 1/4" one since there doesn't appear to be one in the diagram?

I've got a vent hose from the FLAPS that's close, but...I can't be the only person who's looked for this. Anybody else with tips on correct size? Good idear on the gasket, thanks! And thx for the pic!! (click, save :D)

sorry, I read the question to mean that you needed 2 nuts for the installation, you don't.
the item is discontinued from Jeep, but used on CJ, Commando, Wagoneers, and Jeep truck filler necks as well; maybe a donor vehicle if nothing else will work

as long as it is not the fuel outlet going to the carb; 1/4" should be return, so you could cap it off

    Here you go Alan:

That's who I got mine from. Not perfect, but still very good. PDF is not text searchable but you can still find what you need. Basically a scan of the parts manual saved as a PDF with an HTML front end. PM me if you have any questions.
