I have a 67 or 68 v-6 jeep with a bad engine. Looking for a v-6 that I can simply swap in. What options are there for a later model V-6 swap.

alot of peeps like the oddfire for originality (and they say its stronger), but the even fire runs a helluva lot smoother. itll purr at idle instead of the jumpy harley sound. plus, you can bolt a fuel injection kit up for additional torque and efficiency. crank IS stronger, but i think u-joints will go before a crank does.
the 79-now evenfire has larger intake runners for better power in alittle higher rpm range (designed for heavy cars) on the hyway, but works well in low range just the same. you will need a different distributor and flywheel, but the evenfire is a great motor.
the 4.1L was siamese cast (cylinders touch) which reduced cooling capability a bit and they are reported to overheat sometimes like the 400 small block chevy. just make sure you have a good radiator and cooling loop and you should do fine. the 4.1 is nothing more than a chevy 350 minus 2 cylinders (.035 less bore and .008 stroke) so itll dish out good power. the standard 3.8 will dish it out as well so dont cut em short.
the choice of course is yours, but i would move to an even fire and just get the lighter flywheel. especially if its a street jeep for the most part.
just make sure its a rear wheel drive as the article says.
there are a few mods you can do to the 3.8 to really increase its output (if you are into mods and rebuilding etc.)

if you are feeling froggy, you can substitute an olds/pontiac/buick v8 in its place. the duantless 350 will bolt right up (just change exhaust) and have a minumum of 350 ft lbs of torque. might have to do alittle cutting and add a wheelie bar, but hey...we're feeling froggy, right? =)
i will watch ebay for you if you want. lemme know.
