vin number

I just bought a CJ5 project from a guy. He started to rebuild it. He rebuild the motor,cleaned up the frame and axles,etc. When he junk the body he forgot to remove the vin plate. There was a title, but I lost it befor I could transfer it. Getting a title is not the problem. What I need to know is if there is more to the vin number than whats stamped on the frame. I know on the forward control Jeeps there is a six digit prefix in the vin. The number on my frame is 85174. Also dose antone have a place to get a replacement vin plate? Thanks for your help

Where on the frame did you find the vin number?

I have the same issue, but have not yet found any vin number at all!

Ian B ; I found my vin number on the passger frame rail, on top, by the rear spring mount for the frount spring.
