Rear Bumper Fitment??

    will an after market rear bumper for a 72-75 cj fit a cj3a with no drilling i.e. direct bolt on??

    Too many variables to say for sure, but there aren't many aftermarket things for these old Jeeps that are truly "bolt on".

    What bumper are you looking at?

    cross enterprises has a rear bumper/swing out tire carrier for early cj application??

    Yes, I have one on my '64. He makes them for the early Jeeps, so no need to adapt.

    It's still not a bolt on though - you'll need to drill 8 holes in the rear cross member and 4 in the frame.

    Very nice solid bumper though, I've been happy with it.

    I have pics of the install on my site...but for some reason it's not loading at the moment.

    so you had to drill on your 64' so is my 49' 3A's rear crossmember similar?? so that i only have to drill the same holes?? what about width??

    I don't have a flattie around to check for sure, but it seems like the frame widths are the same. The owner/builder of the Cross bumper actually called me to have me measure out the width of the frame, then built the bumper to suit. Maybe he'd do the same for you.
