Awesome, that was my first assumption but just wanted to make sure. Now, for this to work one button goes to power, the other runs back to reverse lights?

That sounds right. It should just be a switch that closes the circuit to turn on the lights, so one lead should come from a power source and the other goes to the backup lights.

If you connected a multi-meter to both contacts, it should read open in all gears, but it should show continuity when you put it in reverse.

For what it's worth, a standard female spade terminal will connect to those odd looking terminals. Just lay the spade terminal down flat and the little flanges on top of the odd terminals will slide right into the lips on the spade terminal. Took me a while to figure that out but it works fine and it also takes up less room against the floor pan.
