Idjit Damn Air Dryer

    Anybody out there have one of these air dryers?

    Is the #8 dooey with the silica gel pellets supposed to somehow mount in the top of the unit as the picture suggests or is it supposed to drop all the way to the bottom as it seems to want to do?

    Howard,
    Don't have one, but if I'm reading the directions :rofl: correctly, #3 says to drop in the disc assy. and then fill with pellets. I think the disc assy. acts as a baffle to keep the pellets from clogging up the drain port. :)

    The pellets are actually kinda the size & shape of peppermints, four or five stack up inside #8's tube & thats it. When I bought the thing I was expecting it would be filled with silica beads but it seems that it's mostly based on using an expansion space to condense out most of the water & then the silica pellets to absorb whats left, which is why I would expect the pellets to be located near the outlet @ the top like the drawing shows.

    Are you sure the pellets stack inside the #8? I thought they would sit on top of #8 after it's dropped to the bottom of tube.
    Please keep in mind - I don't have a clue of how it actually works - just a question. :)

    By Golly- You may have a point!! I think I've been looking at this the wrong way:oops:

    I saw the size & shape of the pellets, I saw the size & shape of #8 & I ***-U-ME-d the pellets went into the tube.

    Not to hijack, but I'm having a terrible time with my air system while sand blasting. Do you think this dryer is better than the traditional glass bowl dryers on the market?? I'd be interested in a report from you after you've had time to use it.
