Brake questions...

I'm gonna put all new wheel cylinders , drums and shoes on the Bucket but I got 2 questions..

#1- My brake pedal doesn't return or come back up after I apply the brakes. Now I know somethng is wrong because I don't have any rear brakes, fronts lock up but I jacked the rear up and it don't matter how hard you stand on them you can still spin the rears by hand. I seen where places list a brake return spring but I don't see anything about it in the FSM... did the JEEP come with such a thing or do you think there is another prob. ??

#2-Omix catalog list 2 different front wheel cylinders for 68's , a 1" and
1 1/8" any ideas there , on knowing which I might have without tearing it apart 1st ??

went down and crawled under the Jeep quick.. the spring is there... just not doing anything..... to long ...or weak.... I'll have to grease up the shaft and check the resevoir to see how low the fluid is or if there's any in the rear.... Now if I figure out the wheel cylinder issue...

from the factory, your front wheel cylinder id would have been 1" diameter

 

My 69 was 1 1/8th

 

Jim , thanks for that link to the pic. , saved that one. So is 68' the cut-off year for the 1" vs. 1 1/8"

 

depends on brake shoe size (per counterman @ FLAPS). my 'old' 10" had the 1" wheel cylinders, while the 'new' 11" have the 1 1/8". best bet is to measure the old ones.

 

Did you ajust the rear brakes to where they drag a little.

 

Didn't get into any of that yet.... I was gonna replace verything with new then set everything up. I am gonna check resevoir today and see if the rear even has fluid in it...
