    Hi
My son and I have restored a couple of late 70's CJ5's but this is unfamiliar ground. We are looking at a 1948 CJ2A. According to the owner, the engine, trans and transfer have been rebuilt. They are currently back in the jeep, the engine will turn over, but hasn't started. The body is original sheet metal, no rust, painted about 3 years ago. Can't find any bondo on it, it appears all original. The kicker is the jeep was completely dismantled to be restored and is currently in several boxes. Original seats, need recovered, roof shot, hardware is there. Right now its a body sitting on the frame and axles, with the motor and trans mounted. All the rest is waiting to be cleaned and put back together. Appears to be all orginal. I think I could pick it up for about $1,000. I feel it's reasonable, but since I have worked on anything before 1976, I don't know what I'm getting into. Thanks

    Steal it!

I paid $800 bux ~7 year ago for a CJ-2A basket case, but it was very complete & rust free.

You have to ask? BUY IT! You can learn about it later. When you run across a deal like that you're supposed to buy it first, then come here and brag and show us pictures!

I'm sure it's a lot like the Jeeps you've already done, only simpler. And there's lots of help available here and elsewhere. Lots of parts available for them too.

Sounds like a good deal. If it were me, it'd be in the garage already ;)

    Did someone say Flattie?

Please make sure it's not around me.... Don't know if the marriage could take another one 'cause it would already be at the house.

And please don't forget to take photos as it sits, as you're loading it, and as you're unloading it! Put a big red bow on it and call it your Christmas present.
