I recently had my t-case overhauled and while they were at it i had the parking brake shoes relined(due to oil soakage). the shop reinstalled all the parts and when i put the t-case back in the jeep and tried to hook the parking brake cable back up it was too short. there is not even enough adjustment on the cable to make it work. it appears that there is an adjustment inside the drum that would let actuating arm come out more ,but before i started tearing into things i wanted to know if anyone here was familiar with what i was talking about? 56 willys t90/dana18. So can i back the nut off inside the drum? or do i have other issues?

well, the adjusting wheel just adjusts the amount of gap between the shoes and drum. Did they put the arm the cable hooks to on wrong?

There is a "thing"(brain fart at the moment) that hooks to that arm inside. I just had mine apart a month ago and I can't for the life of me remember if that has an adjustment or not. Might want to check that. It does have a spring on it. I remember that much.

The "thing" with the spring inside the drum is indeed adjustable. (At least on mine...) FSM will give you the clearance figure that it calls for; whether that would solve your problem, I dunno.

But, be really careful with it! It might be frozen up and I suspect it just might break before it moves. Don't do that. They aren't commonly available. If it's too stiff to turn easily while still in the rig, I'd stop. Take it out and apply some judicious heat and lots of penetrating oil, before forcing the adjustment nut.

the thing with the spring on it looks to be new, i can only look at through the holes in the drum. it appears to just be a threaded rod with two nuts on it and all the parts are shiny and clean. i may just drive it to the transmission shop that did the work and ask them what the deal is since they are the ones that put it together.
