I am trying to decide on a set of headers for Roman and would like to put this up for input one more time. I have searched and read previous treads here and it seems like most people prefer Hedmans over other brands like Pacesetters. Is the quality of one that much better or are there other reasons? I also noticed that Hedman Elite headers have 3/8" flanges , HTC coating, and 14 ga. tubing. Do you feel that one or all of these points are worth the extra money? I would consider the block hugger headers but my reading leads me to believe that this is out because of my factory V6 and saginaw steering. Is this correct? They would seem to be more protected being in-frame but exhaust pipe routing could be tricky with my rear gas tank, t-case, etc.
I am replacing my headers because I banged the driver side header on a rock:mad: and I have a mean leak even after re-welding. If I use fenderwell headers (most likely) I plan on running the exhaust all the way to the rear of the Jeep. I have seen some pics in threads here of this being done. What would be a good muffler to use in this set up and anything special I should plan /look out for? One last question: Are the exhaust ports and bolt patterns the same for the 225 head and the 231 head?

Yes, the thick flanges and 14ga is well worth the money and so is the coating. Best collector design also uses beveled donuts and not flat gaskets. Cheap headers are a pain in the ***. I would much prefer $300 headers than $69 dollar junk.

Ditto, spring for the good stuff.
As for mufflers I like Flo Master myself.

I'm on my 2nd set of cheap ones. Go for the elite.
I've bent flanges causing poor seals.

Check out header buddys, these work well, I'm running them.

I think this is what JB meant by beveled donuts?
