    Hi,
I just installed a rear gas tank in my cj5 and want to put steel fuel lines in the jeep instead of rubber fuel lines. I went to FLAPS and all they carried were rubber fuel lines. Any ideas on where to purchase some in bulk lengths:? ? Also, the return fuel line is smaller then the main line. Does this mean I will need to get 2 sizes?

    Thanks everybody,

    Landon

FLAPS should have steel tubing in varying lengths for fuel and brakes I'd think. At least all the ones I've shopped at have.

    Yes you need two sizes.

FLAPS had steel lines, but only up to 60".

Also, make sure that your gas tank has an American fitting. I got an O-A one only to find that the flare fitting was some totally oddball metric size that even my local tube and hose place didn't have in stock. (You know it's weird when they start saying things like "WTF size is this POS?" ) The solution was to have a radiator shop silver solder on a brass fitting of suitable thread. (the new fitting only has to drop down inside the metric threads)

Find a different FLAPS, all the ones I've ever been to carried 25' rolls of steel tubing in various diameters for use as brake or fuel lines.

While you're out buy yourself a good line double-flaring kit.

I think it's a good idea to use a small rubber section at both the steel line to fuel pump and tank to frame to allow for vibration and flex. This would apply to the return line as well.

Thanks for your comments. Thats what I had in mind. I thought about just getting the whole length in rubber but then I thought about rubber getting cracked and split over the years and steel holding up better.

Long sections of rubber are more prone to collapse too IIRC.
