How many of you use your early CJ as a daily driver? I have a motorcycle that I ride much of the time but I am thinking the CJ rebuilt is a good inexpensive (compared to a $30,000 truck) vehicle I can fix and repair myself.

    Mine's a semi DD. That count? :D

Drive her car 90% of the time since we work together. Jeep does serve as our "second" vehicle when we need two so it's not just a toy.

My YJ was my dd for many years.
I know its not a CJ but I did drive a ecj5 for a few years as a dd also.

I'm hoping to be able to use the M38a1 as a DD or at least a semi-DD once it's complete. Time will tell as to whether or not this will actually be practical however.

The problem is gas mileage - they don't seem to get very good mileage...and with prices these days...

Mine is semi-daily also....Depends on my wife's desire to smell like gear oil and exhaust fumes on any given day. I will drive mine 500-600 miles in the next week or so, as deer hunting season has arrived and I hunt about 50 miles north of here.

I use mine as my daily driver. Makes everyday just alittle bit better. Bad day at work....no worry....drive the JEEP home...makes the day better. Also works the other way around...;)

My plan is to use mine as the daily driver once the frame off restoration is complete.

That is great feedback. I guess mine will also be a semi DD since the motorcycle is SO much cheaper to drive. Right now it is lots of fun to wheel the CJ, once I get the new front brake shoes on and I know which direction it will go on stopping I'll feel better. I'm gathering parts to do Herm's P/S conversion in the spring. Just ordered the postal steering column this morning. I already have the Sagy reverse box. Next is to get the kit from Herm.

In CA, diesel is even more expensive than gas! Makes it a wash on the savings/mile. (I got a diesel p/u to save on gas cost, then diesel went through the roof!)

My JEEP gets about the same milage as my Nissan PU so not much difference there. Gas is back down to $2.10 here so I don't complain to bad. By the way I get right around 18MPG. Mike

Mine will be a semidaily driver. Basicly one week I might have the Neon down here so I will drive that and another I might have Brew. Then again I don't do a lot of driving so it really does not matter. Now when I snows I know Brew will be with me, just none of my friends will know because they will be asking for rides to work.

Mine is my DD. It gets better mileage than my P/U, and it's just more fun. Especially on mornings like today (9*)

Speedy's good for 8 MPG

I could use it for a dd, but the truck gets 16+ so speedy's a toy...

I have a 79 CJ5 that I use as a daily driver. I enjoy being able to have to top off on a nice day and in bad weather, hey, it's a Jeep! You know you'll be able to handle it while others get stuck.

Yikes! I'm hoping to get inot the 20s, at least.

The 240D donor car is getting around 25-27MPG, and that's with the crappy winter grade fuel at the pumps now.

There has been times when the Jeep was my dd. One of the best things about driving it is that it's like a motorcycle. No doors or top, but you're a lot safer than on the bike.... And no matter how cold or wet it might be, I always have an ear to ear grin while driving it.
