Is anyone running doublers or underdrives? Kinda new to the CJ thing. I built a doubler for my XJ with 2 NP207 cases. But I'm not real familiar with this CJ yet. I'm going the *GASP!* buggy route with my 75CJ5. Mostly because the body is gone and the axles arent in the best shape. I am gonna try and keep the '5 look as much as possible. I am not completely eliminating the body just gonna sawzall it and comp cut. I was gonna stretch my wheelbase out 12inches in the rear and do a 1/4 Elliptical with a Tri-Link setup. The 12inches I'm going out will give me room to stuff in a Divorced NP205. I'm just gonna mate u-joint to u-joint. It will add 14 inches. I also have a double cardon 1330 rear and front driveshafts. The NP205 is a drivers drop and the front axle is gonna be a HP44. Rear axle is a Ferd9in. Since I have to outboard the front springs I may just link the front too.

    Whatcha think???

I don't know of anyone who has done it but hey if you are adding the length then you should be able to. Then again why not just add 20inches and you would have a CJ-6? along with a wheelbase similar to your XJ

THe wheelbase now is what about 81"? I was thinking Wrangler length 93". 20inches maynot be bad, around here 100" is about right. Whenever I go full width it will even out the looks. I thinks then, 16 inches in the rear and maybe 4 up front.

    Brainstorming...

Sounds like a lot of work. I've never been a fan of divorced t-cases. Just seems like more things to go wrong. As for doublers its hard to do with the d18-d20 t-cases. You really need to get an adapter to convert to the round 6 bolt pattern and then you will open up your options considerably.

I have extended mine 10" in the rear and am somewhere around 94" wheelbase. Even so my rear d-shaft is only 24" long and with a 1310cv its still the limiting factor in suspension droop. This is with the factory I6-T18-d20 setup, ie short drivetrain. I'd also vote going CJ6 at that point. Good luck stuffing an np205 in there, if you do please post pics!:)

Thats the XJ doubler. Ever since I built that I cant wheel with one T-case anymore. It feels like I can drive the CJ on the friggin' highway in low range. I'm building a 208/205 Doubler this weekend for a buddy's F250 that is flat bottomed and being shortened and tri-linked. I dunno, I am just super hooked on doublers and this one seems so easy as long as I can get past the wheelbase part. I was also thinking of a NP435 swap with a 203/205 doubler.
