    It looks like I am going to buy a T90 / D18 combo from Herm. Here are the unaswered questions...

    1) Do I want 26 or 29 tooth tcase? Why does it matter?

    2) Do I want a large hole or small hole Tcase? Why does it matter?

    3) by the time i spend the money to ship the cores to him, it doesn't cost much to keep the old ones. (about $100) Would you keep the old units?

    1) would matter later IF you get a OD or a lower low range
    2) would need an adaptor to use the T-90 with large case (just like the T-14, not a big deal just a reduction ring).
    3) would keep the old ones. might need'em for parts or trade for something else.

    Might want to consider a large hole TC case, might want to install a 3.15 Tera low kit in the future and you'll be ready with the correct case.

    I always thought large hole + 29 was optimal (if it was available) I dunno.

    have you considered a T18/SM420 or similar big tranny?
    A bit more spendy to get it right but they some with some advantages:

    * Built to withstand anything your foot and SBC dish out, on or off road
    * Granny low will be easier on your clutch when starting out on pushing duty
    * Granny low will be an advantage offroad
    If you're going to spend $$$, spend a few more to go bulletproof; you'll never look back and say, "Gee I wish I still had a T90..." :D

    I'm fixin to have Herm sell me the exact same combo, only I want to order a rebuilt overdrive from him as well. I was going to use the SM465 that I just sold to termin8ed, but the only reason I was going to do this was because I planned on bolting a Toyota 2LII-T to the front of it with the OTT industries adapter. Now that I plan on using a Benzo OM616 engine instead I'm going to need to have a custom adapter made up for up front anyways, and I decided that I'd rather pay Herm $275 for a rebuilt T-90 then pay Novak $583 :shock: for the short SM465 to Dana 18 adapter.

    Can Herm send ya the tranny, transfer case, and overdrive all bolted together and ready to drop in and go? Sounds like the only way to fly if ya ask me!
