I'm in the processes of tearing down my CJ. I have the O/D, TC, and Trans removed. I'm now trying to remove the flywheel but can't seem to get it loose. Is there a special trick to this. I can't get enough pressure behind my ratchet without the flywheel spinning.

I've always used a impact gun. If you dont have one you might be able to put the ratchet on it and "hit" to break the bolt loose.

I used an air impact tool also. I can't imagine how I worked on cars for years without air tools. I even mounted an air compressor in the motorhome so I can use them on the road!!
You might chech out a cheepy tool company like Harbor freight tools for air compressor and air wrenches. You'll thank yourself many times over.
I just bought a cheep MIG welder from them $150 and it works great on floor boards and body work. My Lincoln stick welder just blows holes in light stuff

First step is to use a breaker bar, not a ratchet. Ratchets aren't designed for the initial force exerted on them. (Like I haven't ever done that). How you position the bar makes a difference. Hold it so it's across the flywheel and hold the flywheel with a gloved hand. In other words put the socket on the far nut and hold the bar so it goes across the other ones and that should work. Does for me anyway. :)

If that does not work. Keeping the breaker bar across the flywheel put a bolt into an empty hole in the bell housing wedge a large screwdriver into the flywheel starter ring, using the bolt to hold the screwdriver and counter the force the breaker bar. This should work, they make a special tool that does the same thing. Just make sure the screwdriver is seated deep in the starter ring so the tooth doesn't get chipped.

Thanks for the help from everyone. The flywheel came off today after updating with some new tools. I'm using air. The impact wrench got it off easier than I could have imagined. :)
