Fishing for opinions. Currently on ebay attached to '56 CJ in southwestern WI. Sure am thinking of going fer it and driving up and getting it. $1275 to ship it down WOW!! Figured I could swap out the trans and grab other good parts and sell it here for what I'd have in it watcha think. :? :p Renting a penske truck one way is also high priced. Not sure if the Ram/trailer are up to the trip.

I guess that's up to you..how bad do you want the tranny? That's a long trip, w/a lot of expenses, and that '56 looks like it's had a lot of changes done (dash, seats, taillights, tailgate, etc.). Gotta be a T-98 closer to you than that, and cheaper, I'd think.

I wish I could help ya out. Thats about two hours or so from me. I just don't have time. If it doesn't sell maybe the seller will consider parting it out.

Look on the net for Auto transport companies...Some will transport for fairly cheap. A buddy of mine transported a car from VA to CA for $175.00 and it did not even run...:)

That looks like a Jeep I would've considered buying several years ago when I was looking for my '56. I don't know all the parts you would need from that rig to swap in the t98 but I would think that price is very good since you would have the bellhousing, crossmember, driveshafts, clutch linkage and factory adaptor.

make a pre-bid deal with seller. Maybe he'll ship only the parts you want?

Let us know what company it is, $175 won't even pay the fuel cost.

Sorry Jeff, that sucks. Ain't no fun to find something you really want and have the cash for, but it's so far away it'd double the price just to get it home.
