Hi all, I just picked up a basket case 1968/69 cj5. It has the 225 v6, 3 speed trans.
There are some really interesting fuel tanks installed. One goes all the way across the front under both seats. It has 2 sending units but only one filler on the drivers side in the stock location. The other 2 go inside the rear fender wells behind and above the rear tires. These are shaped perfectly to fit inside the body. The fillers for these are on top of the inner fender wells. The necks come up through the body with a recessed hole that looks factory done.
There are 4 fuel gauges on the dash that also look factory installed.
On the dash on the left side, there is a yellow switch panel with a clutch engage/disengauge switch, another marked switch on/off and another marked brakes on and off. Again this also looks factory installed.
    The original color is red
The Serial number is 8305 239725 with nothing between these numbers
There is another tag with 8305 A 10, This tag is about 1 inch tall and 5 inches long.
Any guesses what this might be. It was completely disassembled for restoration and then abandoned a few years back.
The engine code is E 23 and 1381623
Any help would be great, Thanks

Mmm... not factory. The only factory tank was under the driver's side seat.

Removing the toolbox and adding a tank under the passenger seat was a common modification. Today, the more common change is an under-floor tank between the rear frame rails.

I recall something vaguely about the saddle tanks for under the rear fenders. Someone probably made those as an aftermarket accessory in the 60s.
