I found a V6 engine that I want to build into a CJ2A. The owner says it came out of a Buick with an automatic transmission. The cast numbers on the side of the engine are:
    GM 2
    4.1
    25506484
Behind the carb is a cast number 25506548.
Can anybody please tell me which engine is this?
I have a Chevy 4.1 (straight 6) bell housing and flywheel, but the starter does not touch the ring gear. Can I get a thicker ring gear or should I get another flywheel?
    Any contributions will be appreciated.

    Thank you for your help.

The side of the block is the engine number, the other may be an intake number. The "484" number is an early 80's 4.1 Buick V6. THese were used as a base engine for stripped down Buick Lesabres etc. (Heavy cars). Not much of an engine in these cars but makes a strong Jeep engine! It should have a rochester 4bbl. Bottom end should have the stronger rolled fillet crankshaft. The Chevy items probably wont work.

4.1's are nice little V6's and a good find!

    Thanks fellas.
My problem now is a flywheel and bell housing. Buicks are very rare in my country. Is there any Chevy stuff that will work on it?

I want to use a T90 transmission. Will the T90 with the short pilot shaft work or must it be the long pilot shaft?

    Thanks
