How do you cure your gas pedal knee aches?

    Just got back form driving the jeep around. boy is my knee sore. What do you guys do to ease the fatigue the gas pedal does on a persons leg? Do you angle the seat up and back a little? I didnt notch out the rear wheel well and dont want to do that yet. just want to ease the pain.

    :shock: What kind of spring do you have on your carb and or what kind of gas pedal do you have, I have never gotten fatigue from my gas pedal Dan. If you still have the original pedal your suppose to put your whole foot on the pedal to push it down, not the tip of your foot!!

    I've driven one that fatigued my shin badly. The seat angle was not the original seat and it was painful for just 1/2 an hour.

    Linus OTOH is quite comfortable. I'd say adjust your seat to suit you better somehow.

    the spring is actually pretty light, after i got the new accelorator cable it was really touchy but i ended up liking it.

    I have the full length pedal, but i do have alot of my foot resting on the floor. I am thinknig i have to angle the seat up more, it is kind of flat.

    Just now is my knee not hurting anymore.

    because i built my jeep from scratch and due to a lot of the mods i wanted to do, i had totaly pluged every hole that was in the fire-wall. i made a template of a yj fire-wall and used most of the holes from that, when it came time for my seating arangement i kinda sat in it and where my feet felt comfortable, thats where i put the gas pedel and seat. a lot of my budies that get behind my wheel dont know how i can drive it down a trail, never mind some of the long trips i have taken it on ( did 2000 mi one summer:shock: ) i am 6'3'' so i must have done something right, i guess my point is to mayby personalize it some more

    just mash the damn thing all the way to the floor and hold it (put a nice and heavy brick on it?)
    WOT!!!

    i have the same issues with my throttle..but i would put my foot on the hump and use the heel of my boot to hold down on the throttle.
    no cure, just temp fix. drove from maine to boston that way @85 mph in McGruff all kicked back with heel on the pedal..worked great.

    I brace the outside of my right foot against the tranny hump and kind of "roll" it on the skinny pedal. Supposed to help on the bouncy parts of trails too....

    The flatties have a round knob that screws into one of the tranny hump cover bolts that acts like a footrest. No issues here.

    Steve, let me see a pic of that footrest if you have one available. Unfortunately i do not have the original tranny hump

    If you have a real light spring maybe you have a reverse affect in that you are controlling the pressure of your foot on the pedal with your knee. Actually using your knee to keep pressure off the throttle instead of on it?

    Here is a picture of my pedal. a little hard to see, but you can tell where it is in relation to the flat portion of the floor. It does look a little higher up than probably normal, but i had to modify it to fit the new tranny tunnel. It is a stock 72-75 gas pedal. I did un do the front bolt to the seat and i spaced it up about an inch n the front to recline the seat a bit. That does make a differnce to me, the bottom of my legs seem to be better supported. I am thinking bout making a little wooden spacer to put on the floor for the heal of the foot to rest on, so that i use more of the foot than the toes. What sayeth you all??

    Never had a prob with the knee, but a 2-hr trip into PA pretty much ruins my grip from the steering wheel!

    I had the sore leg/knee problem when I first got my Jeep. I had the heal of my foot on the floor. I then moved my heal up on the trans cover and my that was much more comfortable for me. It also alowed me you rest the side of my foot on the top cover which made it that much better.
