Looking arround online I've seen a big difference in glass tub prices, I'm guessing due to quality. Has anyone done a comparison between them? Also has anyone bought one that they are happy or unhappy with? Here are some pics of parts available locally. The tub was cut in half to be stretched for a wanna-be truck project, then plans changed. So far his price isn't low enough. Any thoughts?

You can't use the fenders or hood since they're longer, from at least a '72. Not sure about tub whether or not it's worth messing with.

I hate to say it....but try a search for fiberglass bodies.

That very question comes up a lot!

Good point Glenn. What are the overall size differences between early and late cj5 bodies? I did a "quickie" measurement from the dash to the tail gate and they're really close.

If that glass tub was on a '72-75 then it will match up well with a pre-72 frame. Of course there will be some differences, pedal placement and heater location come to mind. And as said you can't use the fenders/hood pictured on a pre-72 (you can use the grille if you are creative with the lower support mount).

That tub is cut at a high-stress location (when mounted) but if you're skilled with 'glass work, and some thoughtful reinforcement, it should be serviceable.
But I wouldn't pay much for it, $75-$100 tops, and ONLY if you have the skills to make it solid again.

When I bought my CJ-5 11 yrs ago it already had a fiberglass body on it so I can't say what brand it is. It is however only single walled which makes it flimsier than the double walled bodies I see on most Jeeps. It has wood encased into the body mount areas and in the tops of the rear fenderwells. It has held up very well on the trails and I can hear it creaking when I get the suspension really twisted up but I have never seen a crack.
