Any opinions on who makes the best carb rebuild kits out there? I.E. most complete includes the pump, possibly a float, needle and seat, all gaskets, etc. I have Auto Zone, Napa, or Carquest around me to choose from. Thanks.

I've had good luck with Napa. You'll have to buy the float separately. Generally you wouldn't replace the float unless it has gas in it (shake it). This is a 304?

It would help to know the carb too. Since its an intermediate I'd think we're talking Carter BBD, but who knows. I know the guys at the motorcraft carb forum recommend only the ford kits, but that won't help with a carter.

Sorry guys. Carter YF 1 barrel. For a 258. Will Napa have things like the accel pump diaphram, needle and seat? I am not to worried about the float.

I haven't rebuit a 1V in a long time, but IME all that stuff comes in the kit. The box will have either a cellophane bag or shrink-wrapped inner box so you can inspect the contnts before you buy.

Someone here had a problem with a leaky AMC YF recently - might see if you can find the post and send him a PM for advice. I think he eventually sent it to a shop to be rebuilt.
