i'm working on a m38a1 right now, and the owner didn't want to spend the money to get it sand blasted. it's come time to start sanding down everything on the inside for paint and i mentioned it would be a lot easier and quicker to put the bed liner down. i've used herculiner, and like it for my stuff (i know the teature is rough, and it hold dirt in pretty well). but said owner wants the floors to look stock olive drab. i've got the okay to put the liner down if it can match the paint. is this possible or should i go ahead and start getting everything down to nice shiny metal??

I doubt with herc. Rhino can color match..maybe line x too.....but it sounds like he won't spend the money

Only bedliner I've found so far that can easily be custom-tinted is the SEM stuff that's sold by Eastwood.

Speedliner also has a "Camo Green", FWIW.

I've used something called "Hippo Liner" wire brushed insides and make sure to prime. Several self etching types out there even available in spray cans. Origional primer under OD is red oxide if you want to keep that in mind. Just make sure you get any failing finish off rough up for adhesion then seal with primer. Most bedliners don't adhere to bare metal very well. Keep in mind that most of these are polyurethane based and will dry hard unlike a Rhino liner thats urethane based but can apply thick and have some give. They sure hide the imperfections that the metal may have.

I'm friends with the local Rhino Lining folks here, the tinted rhino fades much faster than the basic black. Has something to do with the tinting process and UV protection, gets a chalky look. Also the prep for a Jeep would be really time consuming, with all of the floor accesses and floor drains etc. I am going to rhino the underside, in the process of applying rhino the texture is added I'm going to omit it so I'm going for the smooth look on the underside (makes pressure washing a breeze).
