Power Steering Core

I bought a new ford P/S gear box from NAPA. They want $100 for the core. That seems really high to me. I called around wrecking yards Friday and the cheapest I could find was $50.
What do you guys think, is $50 fair?
The pick apart guys might be cheaper but they don't know what they have and I'll burn $50 in gas looking I suspect.

 

It doesn't sound like you have much choice -
just cut your losses as much as you can -

 

My local Carquest folks just need a rebuildible core, not even the same make. so I just grabbed one off the pile when I needed one put it the box and never heard a thing.

Yes, that is what I'm trying to do also. Any Ford box should do. My problem is I live out in the desert and wrecking yards are all mucho miles away.
I'm going down the hill in the next few days and will look some more.

 

I can't believe no one has an old Ford steering box out bedhind the garage!! Geemany, that is about all I don't have out there.
