    1972-75 CJ5 Wiper Link Identification
    Motor to Pivit Link:

I have two of these and am trying to figure out which is correct. I found the part numbers in the on-link 1974 Parts Book (22.035-1 977-918; however, no mention of lenght is listed.

One is approx 10 inches in lenght and the other is 9 inches.

The 10 inch link is stampted with #8983339 - 309 and 726 in larger font

The 9 inch link is stampted with #893339 - 611 in larger font

    Any help would be appreciated.

Rocky posted some pics of the early linkage. http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/showthread.php?69777-Are-76-up-wiper-pivots-the-same

Unless someone has the windshield apart, and can measure the links for you, I don't know of any documents that list the lengths.

As mentioned in Rocky's thread, George's Jeep Parts sells the '76-up linkage modified to work in the earlier windshield. So there is a source for replacement parts, if you are stuck.

Can't you just put the parts in place and see which is the right length?

I have some linkage hanging on the wall from the '68-'75 w/s at home. I can measure them tonight or tomorrow.

Yea, I did see the Georg's Jeep parts thread. Nice way to go if lacking the parts. My current linkage is good (knock on wood), I have two short link spares in my treasures box from my wanderings and am trying to figure out which is correct. I bet one is for the 76-up. The last time and only other time that I pulled the linkage out was not enjoyable. When this mystery is solved, I'll post a photo with lenghts for reference.

Must be a common practice, I have a set hanging on the wall too.

Ok, the ones I have are for '68-'75. The short one is 9" long, about 8" between pivots, and are marked 611 in large font and 89339-183 in smaller font. The longer one is 28 1/4" long with about 27 1/2" between pivot for the wiper arm and pivot where it connects to the short arm.
Markings are 696 in large font and 88987-130 and RIGHT in caps and larger font. It is 26" from center to center o the wiper pivots.
