Engine Tuning Info

I reset my carb to original specs. I set the RPM at 650, i timed it to 8 degrees TDC, I got the Vacuum to 15, The vacuum advance was disconnected. The jeep ran fine.

Then i noticed that on my timing light i had the dial set to 30 degrees for advancement. Dang It!!!!

So i go back and try again. I start the motor and it was a little roguh starting. I got the RPM to 650. The Vacuum was down to 10 before i set the mixture to get it to 15. The timing was way off and i got it back to 8 (dial set at Zero) but the jeep didnt idle as nicely as it did when the timing light advance was at 30. The engien was a bit rougher. The vacuum advance was disconnected and the port plugged.

Why would this happen?
I have it running pretty good, everything is warmed up, but just a touch wrose and there is a misfire noticeable at the tailpipe, but it could be because of the slight exhaust leak i have at the manifold. I mean i can run it fine and will test it as is tomorrow, but just curious.

And on a second note, is a V6 just louder than a 4cyl? The Rover is dead quiet compared to the jeep when running in the garage.

 

Did you adjust the mixture again after setting the timing Danny?

 

Yup. i adjusted the mixture. Gonna advance it a touch more tongiht.
