I would like to have the oil pressure light in my dash work, redundant system, and I liek that something orginal works. I can not tell from the wiring diagrams which wire goes where. I believe that the wire from the sender goes to the ground terminal on the light and the other goes to a hot. Is that correct?

Sounds right to me. I'd think that the sender would break the circuit when the pressure came up and the light would go out, so the sender would be breaking the path to ground. Pressure drops, the sender completes the circuit, light comes on.

But hey, what do I know.

I think the same way, have a gauge but like the idiot light to work cause its there. Take ignition hot off the ignition switch, run it to one lead of the light, and the other to the sender. When you turn the key to "run" the light comes on. Start er up and off she goes when pressure comes up. For giggles I took my sender off, rigged it to a test light, and put air pressure thru a regulator to it. started at 0 and started turning up the air till the light went out. IIRC it went out around 4 or 5 PSI, course that depends on how accurate the regulator was. I guess there are different types senders, normally open or normally closed, with the engine off check for continuity from the sender terminal to ground. If you have a connection, it is normally closed and you are in business.
