I used the krylon camo paint. Its flat with no shine or sheen. I was gonna desert camo it but I liked the sand color and left it. I have taken it out and have gotten scratches from bushes and grease from working on it, on the paint. With the flat paint it touches up really good and you cant tell. I went thru like 10 rattle cans. total cost of my paint job around $30.00. flat paint blends in well. The only part I did not like was the hood. I painted it while it was on and you can tell it was rattle canned due to the over spray creating a shaded effect. I was gonna paint it off of the jeep but I figured it was ok since it is a toy to have fun, it did not need to look perfect, just run. :) How ever I did take the time to wet sand the whole body before I painted it, what a pain that was. I'm really happy how it turned out. I guess it just depends on how much your willing to spend. I'm cheap.lol. better pics here, http://community.webshots.com/user/superdavecj6

I went to harbor freight and bought a set of paint guns. I then went out and bought a gallon of rustoluem industrial safety red paint. The jeep was red already and I did some body work to it. I ended up painting the whole jeep as the color was close but not exactly the same. I thinned it out with acetone and sprayed the whole jeep. I have to say it turned out very good for a do it yourself job. All together the paint gun set cost me $50 but I used a gift card. The paint I got at my local hardware store for $25 and the acetone for $11. So for under $100 I got a really good (Home ) paint job. Oh and oragne peel was very minimal.

I will use Omni paint when the time comes, nice stuff and cheep when compared to top of the line paints. I had a friend who drove a Scout and he rattle can painted it and it was wonderful, he painted really thick coats and wet sanded the the little corn binder, it was impressive for a rattle can job. He put a lot of time into it, but the color sanding made the difference. It would fool about anybody when asked if it was a rattle can paint job.

Hey new member here. Just picked up a '59 cj5 pos that's a lovely camo. Plan is to cover it with hammerite, either spit can or use a spraygun. I've used it on many small parts but never a full vehicle. It has rust inhibitors in it and takes minimal prep, also has decent colors either hammered finish or smooth. I like the allis chalmers orange idea. I saw a can of catapillar yellow engine paint once that has some potential.
