Well the jeep lives. i took her out for a spin around the block. It had a little stumbling when cruising down the road in 2nd gear going about 25-30, i am thinknig it may go away after i get the jeep running more often. The motor was kind of cold and did seem to get a little better after driving it around and warming it up. But should i retune the carb? I tuned it, or actually tried to retune it when th evalves were worn and probably had a nice vacuum leak in the carb base. I have the rods and jets for the edelbrock carb and actually know what i should ahve in it for base setup from edelbrock, they gave me the nubmers that should be fine for the V6 i am running. i know i do not have them in there i richened it up when i was having the problems. So should i retune or leave it?.

Cool thing about the jeep is that i have control of the motor, it just doesnt jumpfrom idle to 1300 rpms. i can creep again. :)

I'd leave it and run it for a week and see what happens. See if it "settles" in. Now mind you that's humble advice from a green mechanic.

Pls pay me 2 cents Dan. :D

don't think it would hurt to retune. I check it every 4 months or so.

it idles fine, a touch roguh, but i think it is just the motor. no backfiring. but that wasnt as much an issue. the main problem was i could slowly throttle up on the jeep. it was idle (700 rpm) or it would bog down until i gassed it and it woke up at about 1400-1600 RPM. so crawling was frightening. but right now that seems to work fine. i took the jeep in the field and crawled around for a bit. :) Just have to run it everyday for a bit. i will throw the timing light on it again.
