Does anyone else have a top loader in their CJ?
I understand it was a Jeep option.

    Jeep option? Not exactly.

The T-176 is an aluminum case Ford top-loader built by Tremac under contract in Mexico. It was available fron 1980 through ?? on Wagons, trucks and CJs. Basically it replaced the T-18 as a 4-speed option. Aluminum case.

If you have a RUG transmission with an iron case, it is a Ford product and has been adapted to the Jeep transfer case.

BTW a T-176 top will fit on an iron case Ford transmission to make a top shifter.

Thanks. Mine is the Iron case so it must be Ford. I'm putting a Hurst shifter on it. Herm tells me it is a very good trans that he used to use on his rock crawler.
Should give me a good gear selection with two speed transfer case, and Warn overdrive.
The old hurst that came with it was junk I'm waiting for a new one from Summit.
By the was I have been really Happy with the service and technical help from both Summit and Herm.
    Thanks for your aditional help.
