I just got done pulling my pilot bearing via stuff and huff and I have absoltely no idea how some of you guys use grease. :? I went through and ENTIRE roll of toilet paper and was wondering is this normal? If I had used grease they would need to send out an oil spill recalmation team to remove me from under the jeep.

    Grease.... Ya right! R)

I have removed bushings for 20+ years this way, and I mean literally hundreds of them. This was a trick I was shown in my apprenticeship, if the part is sitting vertically I use oil instead of grease, find a gage pin that fits with a nice slip fit, cover the pin with a rag and then hit the pin firmly with a mallet, it has never failed me once.
But it is a bit messy.;)

I just thread a coarse threaded bolt into it and pull on the bolt head
    always works, no mess

I packed axle grease into it. Used a piece of input shaft from my old tranny and drove it out. the trick is to find a rod that is close to the inside diameter of the pilot bushing. THe hydraulic preasure created by the grease drive the bushing out.

LOL very funny Harry. Yeah, one does use a bit of grease to pack the hole, but hardly a roll of TP. Once I didn't use a bolt quite the size of the inner diameter of the bearing and upon whacking the bolt head, I had grease ska-wertin' out to the other side of the shop.

The method does work when done right. As an apprentice, this was one trick I was thrilled to teach my master mechanic friend. :)

Sorry about the beeg mess ya had to endure!!
