Got a problem, I have been trying to seperate the T90 from D18. Got the rear cover off, cotter pin removed, tranny and Tcase braced and breaker bar in place where the drive shaft U joint would bolt in. Nut will not budge, nothing, no movement. Any ideas, what I am I missing?

It took a 6ft breakerbar to get mine loose. Then it just popped right off like it was brand new :D

This is the nut holding the front yoke on right?
I had to borrow a 3/4" socket set to get it off.
I used a very large pipe wrench (crude but effective) to hold the yoke from turning.
Another option may be to go to the friendly nearby garage and let them use the big impact wrench on it.

PB Blaster soaking and then a good impact.

Correct on the nut location. Used a 3/4" drive johnson bar and 6 foot pipe with no results. I will try the blaster and buy a socket for the impact. I'll keep you posted. Thanks a bunch for the responses.

Brain fade on which nut you're working on. But I guess it's still about the same problem - won't come off.

Let's see, 6' pipe, assume you can push (or pull) with 250 lbs of force, that would be about 1500 ft-lbs of torque. Ok, that's a pretty big number. I've only removed this nut about 3 times on two different case's and it wasn't that tough. Now that one front yoke nut was a different story. . . .

I just took that one of my 68 to put the pto on. Had a huge pain trying to get it off. Kept moving the jeep.
What I ended up doing was taking the top off the transmission, putting both shifter rails in the forward position, and that locked the T14 up solid. Kept the jeep from rolling and I was able to then bust that nut loose. Not sure if the T90 is the same or not on being able to lock it up like that, but its worth a shot.

-- and pb blaster helps alot.

I did the same thing as Brian - locked the tranny between gears (per Tim R. suggestion - thanks Tim) since the trans and x-fer were out of the jeep I put the assembly under the front of the jeep and a 2x4 betweeen the bumper and the x-fer case to keep it from rolling and busted it loose with a breaker bar. It was really tight.

Uh, Frank - I thought we told you about poser shots. Uncap that beer please. :D
